Description:

Join LandPaths, Feminist Bird Club, and Ag + Open Space District in this hike around the beautiful Chanslor Ranch to see the birds of the Sonoma Coast. This outing is part of LandPaths' new Branch Out series, centering LGBTQ+ community members with the purpose of creating a sense of belonging and inclusive spaces in the outdoors. Allies are welcomed! If you want to learn more about birds or just enjoy a hike all abilities and knowledge levels are welcome to tag along to this outing. 

Details:  

  • We will ask you to sign a waiver of liability

  • There is no potable water on the property

  • We ask that you leave your pets at home for this event.

  • There are no restrooms on the property. 

About the area:

Chanslor ranch is home to wetlands and riparian forests that provide critical habitat for many plants and animals. An estuary found on the ranch is also an important habitat and migration point for birds. Grasslands and pastures sweep across the land, providing room for wildlife to roam and hunt. The ranch’s viewsheds, including the well-known Coleman Hill, also contribute to our county’s rugged and stunning scenic character, something highly valued by residents and visitors alike. 

What to bring: 

  • Bottle of water, snacks, and lunch for the day

  • Comfortable clothing to protect from the sun (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen)

  • Comfortable walking shoes (that can get dirty)

  • Recomended: Binoculars and/or bird guides

Chanslor Ranch: 2660 CA-1, Bodega Bay, CA 94923 at 10am! 

Staff: 

Our staff is certified in the minimum of CPR and First Aid, and they have training and years of experience working in outdoor spaces. All staff has had their backgrounds checked through fingerprinting.
