Learn to Classify Wildlife Camera Photos

(Part 2 of the Riddell Wildlife Camera Training Series)

Saturday, June 22nd, 2024
10 am - 2 pm at our downtown office
Leader: Benjamin Bravo

Help us understand more about our wildlife at Riddell Preserve! Our goal with this pilot project is to understand the effects of forest stewardship on wildlife biodiversity, behavior, and movement patterns.

Outline: We will discuss wildlife camera function, LandPaths' current online classification system, and wildlife photo identification tips. We will classify photos captured by wildlife cameras at Riddell in May and June of 2024. We will use this data to compare wildlife biodiversity and movement patterns in sites with differing forest stewardship practices and habitat features.

About the leader: This event will be led by Benjamin Bravo, LandPaths Stewardship Specialist. Ben has more than eight years of wildlife camera experience including the use of wildlife cameras for wildlife research, volunteer engagement, education, and land management.

Location: We will meet in the LandPaths Office (618 Suite 217 4th St, Santa Rosa, CA 95404). Unfortunately, LandPaths does not have free public parking. There is free parking at the large parking structure at the corner of Santa Rosa Plaza and B Street. There is also limited free parking available a few minutes' walk away at Freemont Park (844 5th St, Santa Rosa, CA 95404). To learn more about parking options, please see: https://www.srcity.org/2591/Downtown-Parking.

Time: This event will start at 10 am and will last until 2 pm. Volunteers may leave early but must arrive on time.

LandPaths will provide:  Water, breakfast foods, coffee, access to the internet, and access to the google drive with wildlife photos.

Please bring a laptop.  Limited desktop computers will be available for volunteers that are unable to bring a laptop. Please notify Benjamin Bravo if you need to use a desktop computer.
