What if it's raining? We'll go in a light to medium rain but a heavy rain may affect our plans - if in doubt, call our Outings Line at 544-7284 (then press 1) after 10am. If no special message, it's a go!

Join us as we explore Riddell Preserve, a LandPaths property consisting of Oak Woodlands, Redwoods, and open grasslands! We will become familar with the wonderful fungi world of the property. We will be joined by our own mycology expert, Jessica Holloway, on a relaxed walk through the property protected forever by the Sonoma Ag + and Open Space.

We will most likely be walking 2 miles but may go as far as 3-4 miles with up to 800 feet of elevation gain. The distance we cover all depends on how many mushrooms we find. Our foray will include lots of stops to look at the fungi and other flora and time to talk about their characteristics. Our plan is to stay together in a group. If you wish to wander into the woods and not be with a group, this is not the foray for you.

Mushroom enthusiast Jessica Holloway will share her knowledge and interest in the Fungi kingdom and will also point out edible and medicinal plants along the trail.

The Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation & Open Space District protects land in Sonoma County and LandPaths connects you with that land. This program is made possible though a partnership between the District and non-profit partner LandPaths. It is sponsored by the voters of Sonoma County who funded the District's work with a quarter-cent sales tax, and is coordinated & guided by LandPaths.
