Experience Sonoma County through the eyes of Autumn!

Join us on a three day walk from Bohemia Ecological Preserve to the Pacific Ocean, as the waters return to our creeks and animals prepare for winter.  Witness the bounty that nature has to offer in our season of Thanksgiving—oak acorns, hawk and Chinook migration, willows and alders changing with the season, and so much more.

Calling all who love local food and nature’s bounty!  Join us in giving thanks for all that nature gives us.

· This is a “Stone Soup” style trek, meaning that we will cook dinners together with menus inspired by ingredients brought by YOU and your fellow trekkers.

· We invite you to bring along some of your favorite Sonoma County Autumn ingredients to share as ingredients in our communal kitchen. LandPaths will also supply some seasonal staples such as local heirloom beans, winter squash, venison and more.

Do you live in Sonoma County? Have you ever wanted to go on a multi-day hike with nothing but a knapsack on your back – and your overnight gear awaiting you at the day’s end - in your own backyard? Well here’s your opportunity!

TrekSonoma welcomes Sonoma County locals and friends to come trek with us through native prairie grasslands, old growth redwoods, lush riparian forests, and oak woodlands. Over 3 days you will walk from LandPaths’ Bohemia Ecological Preserve to Shell Beach, while we shuttle your gear and provide a kitchen for us to cook sumptuous family meals together. Nights will be spent around a campfire sharing stories, singing songs, and sleeping deeply to the autumnal chorus.

Now more than ever we need folks who are willing to build local relationships with our neighbors and the land we call home. Come join us and play in our own backyard!

A packing list and precise meeting location will be sent to participants at a later date.

For Who: This Trek is geared towards people who love to walk beneath the open skies for the better part of the day and – over the course of several days – feel that they are actually traveling across a landscape. This trek may also appeal to local food lovers, people who enjoy cooking with friends, and those who want to give thanks in an alternative way for this Thanksgiving season. One need not be an Olympian to make the hike, but be in shape for several days of walking; the pace is completely doable for anyone who is in shape to walk. We carry only a knapsack with layer, water, optional camera and a portion of the ‘trail lunch.’ Children 11 and up that are hearty walkers are certainly encouraged to join their adult parent or caregiver.

on the Route:
First day’s walk: 3 - 4 miles around Bohemia Preserve to take in wildflowers, birds and the iconic waterfall. Second day: BIG DAY, 11 miles of varied terrain but taken at a leisurely pace in order to arrive at the rustic meadow campsite for appetizers, optional hot water rinse and dinner. Final day: approximately 4 mile hike up and over Pomo Canyon and Red Hill to end at Shell Beach.

What to Bring:

  • Participants are responsible for their own sleeping bag, pad and tent (rental of tents and air mats available). LandPaths shuttles this equipment between night stays.
  • Daypack, water bottle and miscellany for day hikes

  • Ingredients for communal breakfast and dinner meals; you will receive some details on this aspect of the trek during the weeks prior to the trip.
  • A complete gear list will be made available two weeks prior to the trip to all registered participants
