LandPaths and the Ag+Open Space invite you to a day of fire ecology at Calabazas Creek. Co-hosted by Monica Delmartini, Resident Fire Ecologist for Ag+Open Space, participants will hear more about climate change in relation to our local landscapes. At Calabazas Creek Open Space Preserve, we’ll discuss how practices like prescribed burning, selective forest thinning, and grazing can be used to increase the resiliency of natural lands to the changing climate, encourage biodiversity and health, and help protect the lands we love and depend on from the impacts of wildfire and major weather events.

LandPaths invites you to take a deeper dive into understanding the human-induced climate crisis that our Mother Earth is enduring through our climate crisis series. In this series of outings, we hope to bring awareness to issues directly affecting the lands we call home, while incorporating collective and ongoing solutions. Participants can expect to hear from local experts and enthusiasts in selected topics such as Fire Ecology, Soil Health, and the State of our Oceans.

Where: To reduce or impacts on the land, we will be caravaning from a nearby location to the preserve. We will meet at the Safeway in Rincon Valley (corner of Hwy. 12 and Calistoga Rd), off Highway 12, and will then caravan over to the preserve. Look for a LandPaths sign, or staff and volunteers to direct you in. Rincon Vallley Safeway Parking Lot, 100 Calistoga Rd, Santa Rosa, CA 95409
