SONOMA MOUNTAIN SUMMIT HIKE:
Friday April 12, 9:30 am – 3:00 pm.
Carpooling from Petaluma’s Prince Park, 2301 E. Washington.
Event sponsored and organized by Sonoma Mountain Preservation
Join us for a day hike to the top of Sonoma Mountain with author and historical ecologist Arthur Dawson. Along the way we’ll hear stories about the mountain’s character and role in the landscape of southern Sonoma County; the people who have lived on and near the mountain over millennia; and Sonoma Mountain’s importance for sustaining the region’s natural and human health into the future.
Total elevation gain is about 300 feet, and hiking distance is three miles roundtrip. Winter rains have saturated the soils, so we may be hiking through several very wet, muddy areas along the way. Please bring your own refillable water bottle, a hat, sunscreen, layers of clothing including a windbreaker, good waterproof hiking/rain boots, and snacks and lunch.
$25 donation goes to LandPaths and Sonoma Mountain Preservation.
