Such strange times we find ourselves in. Lots to ponder about our global community and how we maintain Self Care while also taking care of our local community.
Arthur Dawson, my co-facilitator on the Sonoma Mt. Trek, and I had a good phone call this morning about the choice to go forward or cancel the Trek due to COVID-19. We pondered the physical and mental health benefits as well as our responsibility in keeping ourselves and our elders healthy. With the increasing social distancing and cultural practices that are being implemented due to COVID, with heavy heart we feel that it is best to cancel the Trek. Arthur and I will be meeting soon to plan our 2021 Trek and we will let you know as soon as possible.

Join TrekSonoma and Sonoma Mountain Preservation for an overnight weekend wander across Sonoma Mountain. Wildlife ecologist Meghan Walla-Murphy and historical ecologist Arthur Dawson are again joining together to tell a holistic story of our beloved mountain. Inspired by our cherished community member Pat Eliot, we will walk amongst the spring wildflowers and share meals under the stars.
Though a quarter of a million people live within a dozen miles of Sonoma Mt., this iconic landmark remains undiscovered and barely explored by Sonoma County locals. Over three days we will walk across varied terrain, from ridge top trails and vistas of the bay to the deep dark shade of redwoods groves. At night we will camp under the stars and enjoy local foods prepared by a slow food gourmet. March wildflowers will dot the hillsides while we track the stories of wildlife, waters, and human history. Experience the reasons why Pat Eliot dedicated her time to helping people gain access and preserve this important landscape.
LandPaths heartily encourages those for whom cost is a barrier to apply for the limited number of work-trade scholarships available. As a community institution LandPaths is committed to helping people experience the breadth of our programming so that cost is not a barrier!
